The villa is booked!
Jean and I (and of course Stark) have found a beautiful villa on the Costa Brava, and we'll be basing ourselves there for the month of June 2027. We'd love to have you join us for a long weekend (or more) to celebrate my birthday and just enjoy some time together in a beautiful place.
The villa is in the hills just above Lloret de Mar, about an hour up the coast from Barcelona, with a pool, sea views and plenty of space for long lazy lunches and warm evenings outside.
We'll cover the cost of the villa – so all you'll need to arrange is your own travel (and perhaps bring a bottle or two!)

Villa Jaruco
A modern, light-filled villa built in 2019, set in a quiet residential area on the hillside above Lloret de Mar. It's around 3 km from the town centre and the main beach, roughly a five-minute drive.

The weekends
Four long weekends in June
Each weekend runs Friday to Monday. The villa sleeps 12, so we'll be spreading groups across the month – come for one weekend, or stay a little longer.

On the doorstep
Lloret de Mar
Lloret sits in the middle of the Costa Brava – the rugged stretch of Catalan coast between Barcelona and the French border, known for its pine-covered cliffs, hidden coves and clear water. The town has a long sandy main beach, a lively seafront and old town, and plenty of restaurants and bars, with quieter beaches and coastal walks just around the headlands.
The beaches
The main Platja de Lloret is right in town. Fenals is a short walk south, and the little cove of Santa Cristina, with its hermitage chapel, is a local favourite.
Camí de Ronda
The old coastal path hugs the cliffs between coves. Look out for the Dona Marinera statue and the views back over the bay.
Jardins de Santa Clotilde
Clifftop Italian-style gardens with cypress avenues, mermaid statues and sea views – a lovely cool morning stroll.
Nearby: Tossa de Mar, with its walled medieval old town above the beach, is about 20
minutes up the coast. The historic city of Girona is around 40 minutes inland.
A day trip
Barcelona
Barcelona is about an hour's drive down the coast, so it's an easy day out – or a night or two either side of your weekend if you're flying into El Prat. Gaudí's architecture, tapas, markets, and a city beach: there's plenty to fill a day.
Sagrada Família
Gaudí's extraordinary basilica, still under construction. Book tickets in advance.
Park Güell
Colourful mosaics and gingerbread houses on a hillside with views across the city to the sea. Timed tickets are needed for the main area.
Old town & the seafront
Wander the Gothic Quarter's narrow lanes, graze at La Boqueria market off La Rambla, then head to Barceloneta for seafood by the beach.

Flights & the drive to the villa
There are two airports to choose from. Options are to hire a car (there's plenty of parking at the villa), or we can arrange a transfer for you – just let us know your flight times.

Barcelona El Prat (BCN)

About 58 miles by car via the C-32 and AP-7 (some tolls). Allow extra time to get round Barcelona at busy times.
Closest
Girona–Costa Brava (GRO)
~35 min
About 20 miles by car, mostly on the C-35 and C-63. Fewer flights than Barcelona, and most of them are with Ryanair.

Both airports are around a 2-hour flight from London.
